Seemed like every moment in that film there was a new bit of terrific gore, fright, humor or other kinds of freak-out.

I'm generally a much bigger Tarantino fan--I'd even go so far as to say he's never disappointed me in the past, where Rodriguez has. Something about the dialogue in Death Proof didn't sparkle for me the way his scripts usually do, though. Kurt Russell was great, and the group of Rosario Dawson, Tracie Thoms and Zoe Bell was a lot of fun to watch, but I have to admit at getting a bit bored by the bar-hopping with the original trio of girls.

They had nice feet, though :)

I did a little Stuntman Mike illo, but it's not much of a likeness.Jeffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17114215962787188983noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9511909.post-1176129625662893602007-04-09T10:40:00.000-04:002007-04-09T10:40:00.000-04:00Hey Jeff, thanks! I thought both movies were great but I think Death Proof is the better of the two - Planet Terror is a lot of fun, well made, and a big crowd-pleaser, but it never really goes any deeper than exploiting standard cliches for goofy effect, it doesn't really bring anything new to the table (other than the machine-gun leg). Death Proof, on the other hand, seems like something original, and has greater characterization and created a stronger, visceral reaction in me. They're both really great though, and I'll certainly be doing Death Proof drawings soon enough!Cameronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01127213955411859827noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9511909.post-1176103028745973342007-04-09T03:17:00.000-04:002007-04-09T03:17:00.000-04:00These drawings are sweet!Which film did you prefer...These drawings are sweet!

Which film did you prefer? The critical reaction (from both fans and "critics") has been interesting, seeing how different folks rate the two movies.

I preferred Planet Terror myself. That said, a Cameron Stewart illo of the Dodge Charger from Death Proof would be a wonderful thing!Jeffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17114215962787188983noreply@blogger.com
